Windthorst Custom Meat Co. is a USDA-inspected facility. All beef, pork, lamb and goat is is processed under our USDA program. Our procedures meet strict the federal guidelines for sanitation, traceability, and humane handling of livestock. These processes ensure food safety, quality, and your peace of mind. Whether you're processing one animal or a whole herd for retail sale or personal use we provide local meat processing you can rely on.
What USDA Inspection Means for You:
Federally Inspected: A USDA inspector is present during all slaughter operations, verifying animal health and ensuring all procedures meet federal standards.
Retail-Ready Options: If you’re planning to sell meat at farmers markets, local stores, or directly to customers, USDA inspection is required.
Export-Eligible: USDA inspection allows for broader distribution, including out-of-state and certain export markets, depending on labeling and documentation.
Full Transparency: You’ll receive detailed cut sheets and labeling that meet USDA traceability and recordkeeping requirements.
Custom vs. USDA:
We offer both custom exempt and USDA-inspected processing. If you're processing meat for your own freezer (or for the original owner of the live animal), custom processing is the right fit. If you intend to sell the meat, USDA inspection is required by law.
